Hi! I’m Sarah Bond: nutritionist, food scientist, and the head brewer behind Brew Buch.
Like a lot of folks, I started as a hopelessly hooked store-bought drinker. But after one too many $5 bottles, I decided to try brewing it myself. The result? A fizzy, delicious success (and I haven’t bought a bottle since).

How I Got Here
I have a B.S. in Human Nutrition and an M.S. in Sensory Science (aka the science of how we taste and experience food), which means I take my fermentation very seriously, but also with a good dose of curiosity and fun.
I brewed my first batch at home out of pure curiosity, then shared my process in the Simple Guide to Kickass Kombucha on my food blog, Live Eat Learn. It blew up. Thousands of new brewers joined in, and that guide became the kombucha internet’s go-to. That’s when I realized: we needed a space fully dedicated to the ‘buch.

These Days…
When I’m not developing vegetarian recipes or photographing food, I’m dreaming up new kombucha flavors, testing brews, and helping readers troubleshoot their SCOBY problems (spoiler: it’s usually not mold). I’m based in Denver and do my best brewing with my pup Rhubarb snoozing nearby.
I’m here to make kombucha easy, approachable, and actually fun to drink, and I’m so glad you’re here to brew it with me.
